Don’t let the name fool you, The Ritz Prime Seafood has completely transformed after its management was revamped with fresh and inspiring new industry minds. The Ritz is a full sensory experience from its chic design and beautiful view of Newport harbor where you to can enjoy the tranquility of the water, in addition to the delicious smells and taste from what Chef George Neyra is cooking up in the kitchen.

The Ritz’s new seasonal menu will take your palate on a culinary journey around the world, and when it comes to an end you will be craving more.

We started with Ahi Tuna Poppers atop crispy sushi rice that is crunchy on the outside with perfectly fluffy sticky rice on the inside, which balances the spice from the sriracha aioli and tobiko wasabi very nicely.

A true test for a place that call claims to have “prime seafood” must be tested, and The Ritz Seafood Bazaar does not disappoint. The two-tear ice platter was beautifully stocked with Maine Lobster, Shrimp Cocktail, East/West Coast Oysters, and King Crab. Each element was perfectly prepared, chilled and most importantly, fresh.

Other starters we recommend are the Grilled Octopus made with smoked paprika, romesco, marcona almonds, and asparagus, and the Ahi Tuna Tartare.

For the main event the entrée that made a lasting impression was the Butterfish, a miso marinated black cod over udon noodle with mushroom dashi. The name says it all. It fish melts like butter as soon as it hits your tongue. The udon and broth is light and truly highlights the fish without over powering it. It’s really undescribed, but definitely unforgettable. A must-try.

For the carnivores, there is the 36oz Tomahawk that is cooked to rare perfection with bone marrow butter and marsala jus. The broccoli potato au gratin that is served along with it is divine. If you like lamb, you will love the Lamb Rack, served with zucchini mint puree, Israeli cous cous, golden raisin, and garlic lamb jus.

With the savory comes the sweet. The Ritz chocolate lava cake and donuts with caramel sauce are the perfect way to end your journey while you gaze at the beautiful sunset over the harbor.
