We finally had the pleasure of trying SlapFish at its newest location in Brea! We are loving all the innovative fast-casual eateries that are opening around Orange County, and SlapFish owner, Andrew Gruel, is raising the bar, providing delicious, real, and sustainable seafood to the foodies of the OC.
We started with the Chowder Fries. The combination of natural-cut fries smothered with creamy clam chowder, topped with a fried eggs and bacon is just so perfect that we don’t know why no one else has ever thought of it before. The flavors are so well-balanced, yet bold- it can definitely be a meal on its own.
I have always found it hard to find a good lobster roll in Southern Cali- especially in Orange County- but we are pleased to say that SlapFish does it right. The Lobster roll is fresh and showcases the lobster without hiding it with a heavy sauce. The roll was buttery, fluffy and delicious, and the lobster was tossed lightly in mayo, butter and lemon.
Our favorite item we ordered was by far the Clobster Grilled Cheese. Its half crab half lobster, cabbage, and awesome sauce (creamy & smoky chili sauce), between two grilled pieces of cheesy bread. It’s a crab, lobster and cheese-aholics dream come true. If they just had this on the menu that’s all I would need.
